The Conference Board is gathering senior executives from industry leading companies to discuss how to advance gender parity at the upcoming Women Leadership Conference to be held on May 1st and 2nd in New York City. With a large number of corporations still including a majority of men in leadership positions and women at lower ranks, the Conference Board seeks to bridge this gap and help corporations reap the benefits of gender parity.
Companies participating in the conference include Carnival Cruise Lines, MGM Resorts, UPS, MetLife, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Hasbro, Boeing, Thomson Reuters, and several others. Each one brings cutting-edge research, case studies, and functioning strategies on what builds up and holds back a gender-equal culture of leadership.
“On gender parity, change is imperative – and inevitable. For those organizations at the forefront of change, the benefits in talent, engagement, reputation, innovation, and consumer insights are significant,” said L3 Technologies’ Head of Diversity and Inclusion, and Conference Program Director LaTonia Pouncey.
The opening and closing keynote speeches are from the heads of two major corporations: Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Lines and Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson, respectively. Duffy will share initiatives she created to propel more women into leadership roles over the course of her career spanning from travel agent to president of the world’s largest cruise line. Gorsky will end the conference with a keynote on May 2 on “New Leaders, New Leadership,” featuring a call to action to develop and advance new women leaders.
