As conversations and the data about COVID-19 continue to circulate, Dating.com’s recent survey revealed that a significant majority of singles on their platform only want to match with vaccinated people. Part of the larger Dating Group global social discovery platform that has over 500 professionals worldwide, Dating.com revealed that 86% of singles said being unvaccinated was a deal breaker—prompting an instant online rejection.
“From restaurants to movies – and even sporting events – traditional dating activities are limited based on vaccination status, and our members see it as a clear dealbreaker,” explains dating expert and Dating.com’s Vice President, Maria Sullivan. “A dating dealbreaker varies from person to person and shifts over time. The key to a happy and healthy relationship is finding a partner that complements your interests, lifestyle and beliefs.”
In 2020 the biggest dealbreaker for 72% of potential couples was differing political views, only to now be surpassed by being unvaccinated. The next biggest worry this year after vaccination status is zodiac signs, with 45% feeling that an incompatible zodiac sign was a red flag. Coming in third is a long-distance relationship with 35% explaining they did not want to pursue anything with anyone over 50 miles away.
Dating.com’s findings from further back in 2019 revealed that while some concerns change with the times, others will always be a large factor in possible matches. Long-distance relationships has remained a large issue, while other top concerns included sexism, poor hygiene, and a potential partner that was generally unresponsive and wouldn’t regularly text back.
