DataDirect Networks (DDN) announced last week their recognition in Condor Consulting Group’s “Storage Unicorn” list. A “Unicorn” is a very successful venture valued at $1 billion or more, with the “Storage Unicorn” list specifically focused on private storage companies.

DDN is the world leader in the $100 billion big data storage industry, catering to data-intensive organizations like banks, manufacturing and energy companies, web and cloud service providers, government, and research facilities. Run by its founders Alex Bouzari and Paul Bloch, DataDirect Network joins the ranks of the very few storage companies with Unicorn status.

Bouzari commented on the distinction in a press release, saying, “We are pleased and honored to be recognized as a Storage Unicorn, but we know deep down in our hearts that it is the hard work and unwavering dedication of our employees and the tremendous support of our customers and partners that have made this journey possible.”

Condor Consulting Group updates the Storage Unicorn list bi-annually, once in June and again in December. Their data comes from several sources such as investors, the media, CB Insights, Crunchbase, PitchBook, and its own tools and formulas.
