The Consumer Technology Association announced on August 8th that applications for their annual CES Innovation Awards have opened until September 15th. Applicants have 28 consumer technology categories to select from, including new categories for this year’s event in robotics, smart cities, and cybersecurity.
CES is a hands-on event for consumer technologies, introducing new and next-generation innovations into marketplaces for 50 years. The event is produced and owned by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), a trade association representing consumer technology in the U.S. with over 2,200 member companies.
There is a separate judging team for each entry category, with each including a member of the trade media, an independent engineer, and an independent industrial designer. All entries are judged on the same qualities, including any unique or novel features, user value, use and function, design qualities and aesthetics, engineering qualities, and a comparison of the innovation to other similar products on the market.
Categories for the event include wearable technologies, virtual reality, video displays, vehicle intelligence, smart home, and software and mobile apps. Honorees are announced on November 9th, and receive exposure on the CES website, an Innovation Awards Honoree trophy, and usage of the honoree logo on any marketing assets or packaging.
