The 54th Design Automation Conference (DAC) announced on June 19th the five winners of their Under-40 Innovators Award. Among those honored was Douglas Densmore, Ph.D., an Associate Professor at Boston University and founding member of their Biological Design Center.
The DAC focuses on the automation and design for electronic systems, offering exhibits, training, education, and networking opportunities to attendees. The Under-40 Innovators Award was new for this year’s conference, and recognizes outstanding innovators that design and automate electronics under 40 years of age.
Douglas Densmore currently works in Boston University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering department, building software tools for synthetic biology inspired by his experience with electronic design automation (EDA) and embedded system level design. A senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as well as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), his research covers Synthetic Biology, System Level Design, Logic Synthesis, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, and Digital Logic Design.
In addition to Densmore, the other honorees include Sasikanth Manipatruni, Senior Staff Physicist and Engineer for Intel Corp, Paul Cunningham, Vice President of R&D for Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Yongpan Lui, Associate Professor at Tsinghua University, and John Arthur, Research Staff Member and Hardware Manager at IBM Research – Almaden.
