Since 2009 Boston University has combined Boston’s flourishing entrepreneurial industry with their own medical technology, physical sciences, and life sciences expertise to host an annual event called Tech, Drugs, and Rock n’ Roll. The gathering presents an opportunity for scientists and engineers to connect with investors, innovators, and entrepreneurs, while serving as a showcase for student and faculty ventures.
The focus on rock n’ roll isn’t just a theme, as the event has always included an outstanding band that they feel captures the collaborative and innovative spirit shared by both rock n’ roll and entrepreneurship. This year’s headliner, The Soul Providers, follows notable past musical entertainers including Lou Pride, Parsonsfield, Kingsley Flood, Joshua Tree, and Brandan James.
Several notable research groups are attending, including GE Ventures, the Photonics Center, Mass Challenge, Mass Open Cloud, the Clinical & Translational Science Institute, BUZZLAB, and the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Office.
In addition the event will name Boston University’s Innovator of the Year, who is a Boston University faculty member having conducted meaningful, peer-recognized research in the past year which was applied to innovative inventions for the benefit of humanity.
The event will be held on July 11th, at Boston University’s Metcalf Hall.
