To recognize the best products, applications, prototypes and student projects utilizing Bluetooth technology, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is accepting submissions for the 2016 Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards that highlight the contributions that Bluetooth makes toward the present and future of the Internet of Things.

“The Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards highlight the ever-changing ways Bluetooth technology is making our lives easier, safer, or just more fun,” said Errett Kroeter, senior director of marketing at the Bluetooth SIG. “When we see the breadth of entries that come in each year, we are reminded of the critical importance Bluetooth plays in the future of digital innovation.”

All entries will be evaluated based on innovation, simplicity of use, best implementation of Bluetooth technology, correct use of brand trademarks, and highlighting of Bluetooth’s role in Internet of Things. A list of finalists will be announced in November, preceding the announcement of the winners for each category and the overall winner on January 5, 2016 at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

All winners will have the opportunity to showcase their products and attend the 2016 SIG CES, but the overall winner will receive two round-trip tickets to Bluetooth World 2016, and free exhibition space while the student winner will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000.

The deadline for submissions is 2 November 2015. For more information and to submit entries, visit https://www.bluetooth.org/en-us/news-events/bluetooth-breakthrough-awards. Additional questions about the program can be directed to events@bluetooth.com.
