Next-generation consulting and technology company Infosys is training employees through online learning company Udacity’s “Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree program” thanks to a new partnership between the two. The 20-week program called Udacity Connect combines online training with in-person instruction, and prepares employees for Infosys’ focus on autonomous technologies in automotive, mining, and manufacturing industries.
“Infosys is committed to re-skilling and training its employees in groundbreaking technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and autonomous technologies,” said Infosys president and deputy COO, Ravi Kumar S. “We are proud to expand our partnership with Udacity with the launch of the in-person and online Self-Driving Car Engineer Nanodegree program as we accelerate the pace of skill adoption and ensure our clients continue to be at the forefront of innovation.”
The curriculum includes advanced classes on machine and deep learning, and goes beyond self-driving vehicles to apply the employee’s new knowledge in six-week apprenticeships, solving Infosys clients’ challenges. The partnership hopes to have 500 trained engineers by the end of 2018 with scalable skills building practical solutions within the industry.
In order to select the first participants for the Udacity curriculum, Infosys is hosting a hackathon/competition event this November open to all of Infosys’ globe-spanning talent. The 100 brightest minds from this competition will become the first class when the program launches.
