25 institutions of higher learning will be sharing almost $1 million in grant funding for STEM education from DENSO North America Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the automotive supplier DENSO. The grants reflect the company’s ongoing commitment for technical training and workforce development in the automotive industry.
Supporting educational programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), the grants will be used to expose students to careers in manufacturing—that will advance the industry by fostering the next wave of highly-skilled problem solvers. DNAF funds will be used by programs focusing on design, materials management, mechanical and electrical engineering principles, thermodynamics, robotics and more.
“As a global technology and automotive leader, it’s vital for DENSO to advance young people’s education in engineering, technology and other related programs,” said Doug Patton, president of the DENSO North America Foundation and executive vice president of Engineering at DENSO International America, Inc. in a press statement.
With its North American headquarters located in Southfield, Michigan, DENSO employs over 23,000 people through 28 consolidated subsidiaries and 4 affiliates across the North American region. It is seeking new talent across North America in order to pursue improved future mobility solutions for all. They are accepting applications in a variety of positions located in a number of business units and locations.
“Manufacturing and automotive companies need technically-minded associates now more than ever,” said David Cole, DENSO North American Foundation board member.
