With the spinoff of two startups from their first incubator class, the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2) announced on August 15th the next step for its AI2 Incubator that will further assist AI startups.  AI2 will pair highly successful entrepreneurs with innovators in the artificial intelligence field to further research and innovation in AI. AI2 begins its initiative having already established itself as the one of the largest non-profit AI organizations in the world.

In addition, through the expansion of its’ Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program, the AI2 Incubator gives applicants access to the talented minds in the artificial intelligence field, plus six months of amenities and office space, and up to $250,000 in seed funding to develop their idea.

Jacob Colker, a startup mentor, lecturer on entrepreneurship, and angel investor is the latest addition to AI2 Incubator’s Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program. He gave his thoughts on the incubator in a press release, saying that it was, “…an extraordinary opportunity for any startup focused on commercializing AI technology. Whereas most VC firms or incubators can only write a check, we offer an unparalleled opportunity for entrepreneurs to collaboratively build their vision with some of the greatest AI minds in the world — over 70 AI researchers and PhDs — who can help take these startups to the next level.”

AI2’s two successful spinoffs are XNOR.ai that secured $2.6M in venture funding for their deep learning models for cellphones and KITT.AI that was acquired by Baidu for their new technology for voice interaction in services and digital devices.
