From March 9 – June 4, 10 mobile health startups will participate in the 2015 Sprint Mobile Health Acceleratorin Kansas City, Mo. The three-month program is powered by Techstars, a network of more than 3,000 successful investors, entrepreneur, mentors and corporate partners working to fund and assist the most promising startups.

“We are extremely excited to begin the 2015 program,” said John Fein, manager director for Techstars. “The 10 new companies will have access to some amazing resources, including our health system collaborators, expert mentors and Sprint executives. The combination of Sprint and Techstars will be a powerful catalyst for the companies to take their businesses to the next level.”

All 10 teams have relocated to Kansas City from places as far as Israel and New Zealand to enhance and build their businesses. All participants will receive immersive experience and guidance from Techstars’ new health system partners including KU Med and Providence Health. All participants are eligible to receive up to $120,000 in funding.

Techstars’ John Fein is especially proud of this year’s diversity amongst the ten participating teams. “Four of the ten CEOs are female as well as many of the co-founders. One of the companies is based overseas and many of those based in the U.S. also hail from other countries.”

The products created by these participating companies serve as yet another representation of diversity. The innovations range from a fertility thermometer and app, to a personal connected breathalyzer to software allowing communication between animals and veterinarians.

“Sprint is proud to be working with Techstars again to bring this world-class accelerator program to Kansas City,” said Kevin McGinnis, vice president, Pinsight Media+, a division of Sprint. “We are looking forward to helping these companies grow and develop since we saw the positive effect of the experience last year – not only for the startups at the accelerator, but also for the opportunities it affords to promote entrepreneurship among our employees and help advance the region’s already vibrant startup community.”
