The submission deadline of January 15th is fast approaching for the annual Igniting Innovation 2016 Showcase Awards. Announced in early December by the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC), the awards event to be held in April recognizes the most innovative individuals/organizations that have “an exceptional use of technology to solve government problems”.
The ACT-IAC, based in the greater Washington DC area with chapters in two regions, asserts that they are, “A unique and trusted public-private partnership where government and industry executives work together to create a more effective and innovative government for America.” They provide a technology-neutral forum for individuals to work together in developing innovative strategies and effective solutions to improve different aspects of the government.
Any individual or organization can submit a nomination however; their innovations must have been conceived, developed, deployed or upgraded within the past two years.
A panel of judges, consisting of government and industry executives, will review nominations and select 30 submissions to be finalists. The top 30 will be given unprecedented exposure. These finalists will be both judged and voted upon through social media voting by attendees of the event in order to determine the ultimate winners.
