With its focus on innovation in industries ranging from personal transportation to industrial automation, Yamaha Motor Ventures & Laboratory Silicon Valley, Inc. (Yamaha Motor Ventures) led an $11 million AUD funding round for Australia-based The Yield Technology Solutions (The Yield).
The Yield’s digital technology solutions aid in the farming of irrigation-intensive crops serving to transform core agricultural processes. The investment aligns with Yamaha Ventures portfolio of ag tech enterprises, concentrating on the application of data-driven solutions to the management of the food supply chain.
Among The Yield’s technical offerings is their Sensing+ platform that uses in-field microclimate data incorporated into a proprietary AI modeling application. The AI then gives users predictive insights to help them manage a range of areas such as harvests,, irrigation, planting, and feeding. Their other technologies leverage data science, AI, and Internet of Things to tackle problems not just on farms, but throughout the entire food chain.
“Our technology is poised to make a significant impact on the productivity and profitability of corporate growers, beginning with those here in Australia and New Zealand,” said Yield’s managing director and founder Ros Harvey.
Based in Silicon Valley Yamaha Motor Ventures manages the Yamaha Motor Exploratory Fund, a USD $100 million investment fund with a 10-year lifecycle beginning from Seed to Series B investments. The Venture firm provides business development resources to startup companies in the fields of mobility, sustainability, robotics, food and agriculture, health and wellness, and aviation.
