Across the U.S, over 120 ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations are now open to the public at Walmart stores, as part of their partnership with Electrify America. The installations will make Walmart one of the largest retail hosts for charging EVs, reflecting Walmart’s commitment to sustainable solutions that their customers greatly value.
The companies originally started collaborating in April 2018 and are now expanding to add more Electrify America charging stations all over the country. On average, Walmart opens a new charging center every three days, both in major urban areas and underserved rural communities and highways.
With Fast Chargers, Electrify America enables drivers to power their vehicle at speeds of up to 20 miles of range per minute, meeting a need among drivers traveling along major interstates and highways in the U.S. The partnership helps users charge their vehicles while restocking their needs at Walmart, with additional plans to deploy thousands more chargers at other stops with access to retail, dining, and parking.
“This milestone marks an important moment in the expansion of our charging station network,” said Brendan Jones, chief operating officer at Electrify America. “We look forward to continuing our work with Walmart to make electric vehicle charging faster and more convenient for consumers across the country, and in turn, encourage more adoption of zero emission vehicles.”
