Vets First Choice announced on July 19 th the receipt of a strategic investment of $223 million to fuel their expansion into Asia and Europe. The investment is led by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice and Hillhouse Capital Group, while Sequoia Heritage, Rock Springs Capital, Wellington Management Company, and Viking Global Investors all participated as well.
The technology-enabled services offered by Vets First Choice help veterinarians provide personalized care such as tracking medication and service compliance. Also, veterinarians are able to improve profitability through increased use of prescribed products and services. Within the past year, Vets First Choice has more than doubled in size, providing their services and solutions to greater than 20,000 veterinary practices.
Vets First Choice Co-Founder and Board Chair, David Shaw, commented on the investment in a press release, saying that, “Today’s investment further supports Vets First Choice’s ability to create transformational value in helping veterinarians serve their patients better and build their practices more effectively. We are grateful to all of our investors for their support and belief in our vision.”
The investment made by Clayton, Dublier & Rice is not their first, with another investment made previously in 2015 through a fund. Joining the Vets First Choice board of representatives are founder of Polaris Partners Terry McGuire, founder of Baja LLC Betsy Atkins, and a Hillhouse Capital Group representative.
