Venture for America (VFA) continues to grow with placement of its college graduate fellows in startups located in cities across America. It has just launched its new web site, www.VentureforAmerica.org, that captures the strides the not for profit organization has made in the past year.
VFAs new web site states its mission -to revitalize American cities and communities through entrepreneurship, to enable our best and brightest to create new opportunities for themselves and others, and to restore the culture of achievement to include value-creation, risk and reward, and the common good.-
Founded in 2011 by Andrew Yang, VFA has grown to twelve cities with more to come. The web site presents the people, the history and the passion for what entrepreneurship potentially brings to cities that are seeking to re-vitalize.
Yang who spoke at Cornell Universitys Entrepreneurship Summit NYC in November explained how selective they are in choosing candidates for their program. Once selected each student is giving intense training, they are matched with a growth stage company and over the next two years they learn about becoming an entrepreneur. Much of this training process is based on Yangs own personal entrepreneurial journey that did not start out successfully, but gave him an appreciation about how hard it is to be an entrepreneur and the ways to learn. In February 2014 he published his first book, -Smart People Should Build Things.-
