AARP has announced 20 startup finalists for its sixth Innovation@50+ LivePitch event on April 12-13. The finalists are split into two categories: ten in caregiving health technology and ten in financial technology.
The event, to be held in Mountain View, CA, brings together startups, judges, venture capitalists and AARP members to discuss issues and current challenges in caregiving and financing for people aged 50 or older.
In addition, the event features two keynote speakers – AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins and NBC’s Today Show Financial Editor Jean Chatzky.
The finalists will present their business plans on stage for three minutes to a panel of expert judges comprised of venture capitalists and angel investors. AARP members will also listen and provide feedback on the pitches, giving startups valuable on-the-spot market data.
The event is held in hopes to fulfill AARP’s ongoing goal to empower people over the age of 50.
The 20 finalists, narrowed down from a pool of 200, include Braincheck, a mobile cognitive tracking platform, and Eversafe, a learning system that protects seniors against fraud.
