Topcoder, a community of more than 665,000 developers, designers and data scientists, is inviting its community members to participate in the New York City dataset enhancement tutorial for HP Haven OnDemand challenge, a series of challenges for Topcoder members to build on a version of the Vertica Analytics platform, according to Topcoder’s website.
The challenge appeals to Topcoder community members who enjoy helping fellow developers, working with new technology and have a skill for explaining difficult technical concepts. Topcoder hopes to encourage more tutorial type content for the HP IDOL OnDemand platform from its members, this time with a focus on helpful blog content and videos explaining how to use the HP Vertica Analytics Platform. The platform offers organizations new and faster ways to store, explore and serve more data, according to vertica.com.
With data provided by New York City’s Open Data initiative, the contest offers first, second and third place prizes totaling $3,000. Those looking to participate in the contest must sign up for an IDOL OnDemand developer account at http://www.idolondemand.com/signup.html. Participants must also register for a developer account with HP in order to receive access to additional Try functionality in the API console, according to the official contest rules.
