More entrepreneurial activity occurring in downtown Newark that follows on the heels of the recent launch of the “Pop-up” co-working space Converge. To be located Just a half a block away on Market Street, MEDINA = CITI, a full service design house based in Newark and serving the greater New York area, just announced the opening date of August 11th for it new co-working space. It will be called =SPACE (Equal Space) touting its use for all entrepreneurs regardless of business size or stage.
Founders Medina and Sean C. Hairston are forging this initiative under MEDINA’s culture and design spirit of their multi-media company based in Newark for the past five years. The multi-media company has Newark clients such as the Newark Museum, as well as notable other clients in the greater New York area for which they provide visual communication services and strategies. Served brands include Ironman Triathalon, Footaction, Gatorade and Mountain Dew Kickstart.
=SPACE will be both a share space & incubator offering free wifi, both formal and informal conference rooms, a putting area, video conference booth, and both communal and desk seating. It will be available in beta for just $ 20 per day for use.
Hairston describes their expectation for =SPACE, “It will serve as a magnet for intellectuals, techies and entrepreneurs of New Jersey. We will provide key resources and coaching for startups and tech companies.” Referring to their future co-working users as Equal-Spacers’ Hairston sees them as “the risk takers, the pushers and game changers, who will spawn the next wave of innovation.” They were very pleased with the assistance they received from Brick City Development Corp. in making their idea into a reality.
