Following their selection as a finalist and a “Shark Tank elevator pitch”, TapLink was named the top early stage company in the 2015 Clouded Lion’s Den, according to a recent press release. By providing a new model for password databases, TapLink’s innovation is eliminating chances of password theft and attacks.

“Winning the Clouded Leopards Den award provides further proof that our approach to password protection is solving a huge problem and addressing a big market opportunity,” said Jeremy Spilman, CTO and Founder of TapLink. “TapLink Blind Hashing uses a transparent, easy to deploy cloud delivery model that makes password databases immune to offline attacks and impossible to steal.”

The competition, which took place in San Francisco during the NetEvents Global Cloud Innovation Summit on April 23, recognizes startups that are creating “market disrupting technology”. TapLink gave its winning pitch to an accomplished panel of judges including Jim Lussier, Managing Director and Head of Dell Ventures; Janice Roberts, Partner in Benhamou Global Ventures; Dan Scheinman, an investor in tech companies; and Murli Thirumale, Co-Founder and CTO of Portworx Inc.

Sponsored by OpenCloud Connect (OCC), an alliance providing cloud services to enhance ethernet technology, the competition also honored Viptela, a company working to simplify and lower the costs of WAN options, as the top later stage company.

“The winners of the 2015 Clouded Leopards Den competition are inventing the future,” said Dr. Metcalfe of the University of Texas at Austin. “We salute all the nominees and finalists for their vision and creativity, and look forward to seeing all of these companies move on to future greatness.”
