On October 18th, as part of Newark Tech Week, The Refinery will be holding its Fueling the Growth Pitch Competition at Newark’s Second Annual Tech Summit at 2 Gateway Center. The competition is open for female founders, offering them an opportunity to talk with venture capital and angel investors, receive feedback, and participate in a showcase of Newark’s technological renaissance.
Investors from Goldenseeds, Pipeline Angels, SoundBoard Angels, and New York Angels are all planning to attend and speak with selected applicants. From these talks, the investors select the top 10 companies that then pitch-off at the event, with previous winners splitting $120,000 in grant awards among them.
Interested companies must have at least one female founder who performs the pitch, use technology in their business, can demonstrate market fit with proven scalability for their product or service, and must be pitch-ready with a 7-minute pitch, although slides are not required.
Newark Tech Week runs from October 18th to 21st, gathering together incubators, universities, entrepreneurs, and local startups from all corners of the tech field for potential opportunities to collaborate with the City of Newark. Beyond the Fueling the Growth Pitch Competition, other events during Tech Week promote connectivity and social entrepreneurship, helping small businesses grow while showcasing technology in medicine, AI, entertainment, gaming, and others.
