Springboard is bringing their mentor-led online learning experience together with Women Who Code to launch the new Springboard/Women Who Code Scholarship Program, offering $1,000 scholarships to women enrolling in Springboard’s software engineering, machine learning, and data science courses. This partnership also comes with co-branded recruiting initiatives aimed at introducing more women to software engineering and data science careers, tackling the underrepresentation of women in tech fields compared to the overall employment of women in the workforce.
“We founded Springboard with the goal of providing access to high-quality, specialized training so people from all walks of life can broaden their skills, increase their earning potential, and transition into highly sought-after jobs,” explained Springboard Co-Founder Parul Gupta. “When I began my career at IBM Research, I had very few female role models or mentors. With this partnership, Springboard and Women Who Code aim to increase female representation in technology.”
This specialized training matches students with industry experts and mentors at the tech sector’s biggest employers like Salesforce, Apple, Uber, and Google. Those in the programs receive career-related coursework designed to meet current industry demands, with graduates going on to join those companies as well as Dell, Amazon, LinkedIn, Facebook, and others.
Upcoming Women Who Code events will include Springboard mentors, enabling interested applicants to learn more about these initiatives.
“We envision a world where diverse women are proportionally representative as engineers and tech leaders,” said Women Who Code CEO Alaina Percival. “Together with Springboard, we’re providing access to education, career resources, and opportunities for women to improve gender diversity, representation, and equity in the technology workforce.”
