In its just released August newsletter the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering Varick Street incubator shared the recent news about Twitter’s purchase of one of its graduate startups, TapCommerce. TapCommerce CEO and Co-founder Brian Long publicized the news through his blog this past month, expressing his excitement over the acquisition, “Our focus on creating engaging brand experiences for mobile consumers aligns perfectly with Twitter’s product and core values, making TapCommerce a natural fit in Twitter’s expanding mobile advertising stack.”  TapCommerce is another notable venture coming out of New York’s startup community that has been rapidly growing.

The mobile tech startup, specializing in mobile retargeting and advertising company, TapCommerce offers a platform designed to help companies best advertise to their consumers by allowing them to purchase ads via their mobile devices. Through the RTB (real-time bidding) services provided by TapCommerce, advertisers and brands can more sophisticatedly identify and advertise to their target audiences through the use of mobile ads. TapCommerce allows advertisers to acquire new users through app installation as well retain existing users who already have their app on the device.
