The Association for Women in Science for Central New Jersey has set July 30th for their virtual W.O.M.E.N. SUMMIT 2021 that will bring together women scientists, entrepreneurs and supporters to focus on women’s entrepreneurial needs in the STEM areas.
The gathering will include two guest speakers: Camille Schrier, Miss America 2020 who is pursuing a doctorate in pharmacy, and Andrew Zwicker, Ph.d, Assemblyman and Chair of the New Jersey Science, Innovation and Technology Committee. There will also be a presentation of the annual Mentoring Awards, Entrepreneurship Awards and an introduction of their recently launched New Jersey STEM Women Entrepreneurs Supplier Diversity Initiative.
The initiative was established to address the areas of STEM entrepreneurship where women are underrepresented among the ranks of entrepreneurs. The organization’s aim is to de-risk and celebrate STEM women entrepreneurs by creating opportunities for their businesses in the New Jersey ecosystem. This will be achieved through collaborations with partners who champion this mission which is to create long-term change for women led ventures.
A list of female owned STEM businesses in New Jersey and the services they provide will be compiled and then shared with partners & collaborators for a possible business contract, if the business addresses one of their product or service needs. They will also connect those who register to other supplier diversity initiatives
If a women business owner is involved in the STEM area, they are encouraged to register so they are recognized as a female-owned STEM business vendor in New Jersey that may lead to being matched with business opportunities.
