In an era when over 60 percent of high school graduates attend college, the process of identifying viable university options and then applying can be confusing, time-consuming, and expensive to applicants. MyKlovr, a media division of Student Global LLC, has partnered with Benefitfocus (BNFT) to ease this process for both parents and students through a virtual college counseling platform that offers personalized services.
The website, which MyKlovr plans to soon also offer as an app, is powered by artificial intelligence and uses data analysis to evaluate a student’s profile and then personally advise them based on the admissions criteria for respective colleges. For some students, MyKlovr suggests working on grades, while others may need to invest more time in sports or extracurricular activities.
MyKlovr is free upon signup and the student can create a profile, obtain a college-prep plan, and track his or her achievements on the standard plan. There are options to upgrade for a more advanced college counseling experiences, such as step-by-step guidance or an exclusive meeting with a counselor. MyKlovr also plans to introduce a Marketplace, which will enable parents to find tutors and courses that can improve a student’s chances of getting into the college of his or her choice.
Human Resources departments are also offering MyKlovr as a benefit to employees to attract and retain workers with intentions of sending their children to college. Clients of Benefitfocus, a cloud-based benefits management platform, automatically receive access to MyKlovr and other companies may sign up and receive access as a post-tax voluntary benefit.
“For every parent, children and their education are a top priority. At the same time, many families lack the resources to ensure their children can maximize their talents and potential,” said Gustavo G. Dolfino, founder and CEO of myKlovr. “This agreement will provide millions of U.S. households with convenient access to our college counseling platform and make it easier for busy families who don’t want to worry about navigating the process alone or paying for expensive private college counseling.”
