In partner with Pitney Bowes and the Technology Association of Georgia, Iselin, New Jersey based RCG Global Services hosted a week-long competition challenging participants to develop products for banks and financial service companies that can improve site selection, market optimization, and customer relationships and retention. Over 100 students, as well as career professionals, participated in the event which was held in the Atlanta area and used Pitney Bowes data sets, application program interfaces, and location intelligence to produce solutions.

The first prize went to TeamHackalytics, who worked to identify new markets in underserved populations by analyzing location intelligence and demographic and socio-economic data. Using the tools provided, as well as information on the retail banking and merchant financial services business, the team developed profitable new products and online services for the new market segments.

TeamGeo-Ninja won second place for creating a product that identifies potential target customers, ranks their conversion probability, and produces a cost-benefit model for customers, ultimately helping online banking platforms acquire new customers. Finally, Team Biotechnics won third place for advancing ATM Services and acquiring new customers by waving ATM fees and obtaining customer information that can connect consumers back to Pitney Bowes data sets.

“The FinTech industry is under constant pressure to create solutions to challenges brought on by everything from regulatory mandates to financial institution’s demand for modernized services for consumers,” said Elizabeth Hoemeke, SVP at Elavon and hackathon judge. “I was impressed with each team’s ability to grasp our challenges and quickly develop meaningful solutions.”
