New York City Transit is in need of new, innovative ideas to improve the effectiveness of the subway service.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the “Genius Transit Challenge”, an international competition launching next month that will grant three $1 million dollar prizes to competitors with ‘genius’ solutions. Competitors are being asked to figure out ways to make the signal system faster, improve subway cars, and set up and maintain cellular and WiFi connectivity throughout the subway system and tunnels.
The competition will be judged by a group of expert panelists with various backgrounds in technology and management. The three winning ideas are expected to be implemented quickly by the MTA after the competition.
Stay tuned for more information about the competition in the coming weeks.
