To cultivate diversity in the entertainment and media industry, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the Independent Filmmaker Project have collaborated to develop the Made in NY Media Center by IFP. From now until September 30, the 12-month incubator is offering ten unique opportunities for New York City innovators to develop ideas in film, video, gaming, technology and more.
The Media Center is prepared to offer 10 one-year Made in NY fellowship to New York City-based individuals, small businesses and Non-Profit Organizations representing the different cultures and perspectives that are vital to fostering creativity in media. From November 2, 2015 – November 2, 2016, selected fellows will receive mentorship from industry leaders and access to IFP classes, networking events and facilities, which include a media gallery, theater, caf© and community member spaces.
Since its launch, the Media Center has served over 25,000 people in more than 10 classes and 300 events. The space serves as a platform for diverse innovators to connect, create and collaborate through education, mentorship, entrepreneurship and content creation.
All applicants in entertainment and media sectors will be considered, but priority is given to applicants in the following disciplines:
Animation
Documentary filmmaking
Gaming
Media Entrepreneurs and innovation
Multi-disciplinary projects across platforms
Narrative filmmaking
Post-production
Virtual Reality (VR)
