At this year’s Internet of Things (IoT) World, the largest IoT event on the market, Samsung President and CSO of Samsung Electronics Ltd. Young Sohn is slated to give the opening keynote on May 12, where it is said he will share a major company milestone, according to a press release.
That milestone is expected to enable a new wave of “groundbreaking” IoT devices and services that will address areas such as climate change, health care, aging demographics, urbanization and access to food and clean water through continuing efforts to connect devices and people, Sohn said. He will deliver the opening address to an audience of industry leaders, entrepreneurs, developers and young companies at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
IoT World 2015, the second birthday of the “most comprehensive” IoT event, attracts an estimated 4,000 attendees along with 250-plus industry leaders and dozens of exhibitors, according to iotworldevent.com. IoT World currently stands as the only independent business event dedicated to IoT.
“In 2015, the tremendous [excitement] around IoT is now bearing fruit in terms of concrete products and services,” the event website says. “Now is the time to bring together the entire ecosystem in order to assess the commercial opportunities, to highlight the key challenges hindering IoT and to assess the range of solutions available to create a sustainable future for IoT.”
The second annual IoT World is made possible by Informa Telecoms & Media, a provider of events in the communications marketplace. Not only does the event provide its wide ecosystem of attendees the opportunity to promote individual causes, but also assesses the key horizontal challenges affecting the range of vertical markets and features dedicated tracks looking at industry-specific issues, the website says.
With strategic partners hoping to facilitate new advancements in IoT, Sohn will detail how Samsung will help create a “smarter tomorrow,” according to the press release.
Sohn said this achievement by Samsung will allow the company to work within the industry, create solutions to modern issues and change people’s lives for the better.
