Harlem Biospace, a business incubator located among the three campuses of Columbia University, City College of New York, and the future Columbia Manhattanville locaton, is seeking early stage life science and tech companies to join as members of their co-working open space and web labs. Located in the Factory District of Harlem, the facility is close to public transportation, the West Side Highway and the NYC bike trail.

Through a very competitive rolling application process, prospective members are asked to provide key information detailing the commercial potential of the company’s technology with a description of milestones expected to be completed by the company within the maximum of 3 year tenure at the Biospace.

A member receives via a 6-month agreement a desk rental of $995 per desk per month. The fee includes access to classes, exclusive events, and networking opportunities. In addition to the ergonomic desk, use of a shared wet-lab bench and utilities such as Wi-Fi and printing. Wet-lab equipment available includes turnkey access to cell-culture hood, incubators (5 and 10 percent carbon dioxide), benchtop centrifuge, autoclave, chemical fume hood, microsopy, freezers, and fridge space, all with no additional cost. The facility offers unlimited 24/7 access to the physical space and community of fellow biotech entrepreneurs. No equity is requested for membership.

Startups that originated from an NYC academic medical institution that are in the early stage of development and demonstrate a strong need for a wet lab in order to perform experiments will begiven priority.
