Bridging the gap between the thriving fields of technology and sports, SPORTS TECH TOKYO 2019 offers an acceleration program that helps international sports-related startups. Hosted by Dentsu Inc. and Scrum Ventures LLC, accepted companies strengthen their startups over 3 months by networking, pitching to investors, and showcasing their products or services.
Sports tech is an industry that uses technology to add value to sports, a sector that tripled from 2011 to 2015. In the US alone, the sports market is worth roughly $437.5 billion, and Japan plans to expand their sports industry as well, from $48 billion to $132.9 billion in 2025.
Accepted companies progress their business models with the guidance of a mentor that leads them to pitching their product or service to the Sports Advisory Board, a group of players and specialists from various sports organizations in Japan and the U.S.
SPORTS TECH is looking for a broad range of startups that address different needs including athlete performance, stadium experience, and fan engagement.
The application is now open until January 7, 2019 and there is no cost to join.
