Knowing the link between a good education and better employment opportunities, venture capitalist Adam Enbar and self-taught coder and technologist Avi Flombaum founded the Flatiron School in New York City to teach skills necessary to become a software engineer. Building on their program’s success the school has partnered with eight NYC startup organizations to launch the Future Founders Scholarship.
The school offers programming classes both on their premises and online, focused on closing a skill gap students have when it comes to the tech world. The program’s success is seen through the 98.5% of students who become employed in software engineering positions in less than 180 days after graduation.
Through this new scholarship, made possible by Digital.NYC, Venture for America, HubSpot for Startups, Draper University, Uncubed, StrtupBoost, LMHQ, and Brand Yourself, the Flatiron School will select 50 students and reduce their tuition for their first 3 months to $750 a month.
Even people that live far away from one of the school’s tech hubs, those with full-time jobs, or other obligations that make traditional college inaccessible are eligible for this scholarship, thanks to the school schedule’s flexibility through its Online Campus.
