Known for their work connecting startups and established firms, Quesnay announced their call for applications for the upcoming 2017 Female Founders in Tech event, accepting applications from October 1st through October 31st. This year’s event focuses on showcasing solutions and products in the financial services and insurance industries that impact inclusion and wellness.

“We, like many others, recognize the distinct lack of representation and startup funding among women and want to use the competition format as a way to fund, support and mentor female founders in the financial services arena, where the gap is particularly stark,” Quesnay explains on their website. “At Quesnay, our own founder, Jennifer Byrne, is a female founder and angel investor, so this is a cause that resonates with us on multiple levels.”

The event is open to any startup with a female founder, co-founder, or C-Suite leader that has a Minimum Viable Product with relevance to the insurance or financial industry. Examples include products or solutions leveraging gamification, IoT, augmented or virtual reality, artificial intelligence, or blockchain, as well as products that increase wellness, or literacy on personal finances, and inclusion, or increased access to insurance or financial services.

Finalists receive mentorship, advice, and introductions to incubators, investors, and women tech leaders in Insurtech and Fintech fields, depending on the stage of the finalist company. There is a $10,000 cash prize for first place, $6,000 for second, and $4,000 for third.
