Expedia Group, Inc. further built on its travel platform that includes HomeAway with the acquisition of rental solutions providers Pillow and ApartmentJet. Pillow assists building managers and owners by facilitating residence rentals of their long-term residents, while ApartmentJet streamlines the rental of guest suites within multifamily communities. Both businesses meet the rising demand for short term rentals in urban markets.
“In order to be able to deliver our customers what they are asking for while at the same time promoting responsible renting, Expedia Group is committed to delivering solutions that give urban building owners, managers and communities control and transparency over short-term rentals,” said Mark Okerstrom, CEO and president of Expedia Group. “These acquisitions are yet another step forward to delivering on our Expedia Group purpose of Bringing the World within Reach for customers and partners around the globe
Both rental platforms let owners set limitations on the short-term rentals within their buildings, such as limiting total rental nights per year for individual units or across a whole building. Specifically, Pillow lets multifamily community owners provide residents the means to list their apartment units, without violating lease restrictions. ApartmentJet handles the flip side of the coin, helping owners assist visitors with guest suites at their properties.”
