The climate tech company’s timely funding will be used to scale production.
Endera, a rapidly growing leader in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, has secured $49 million to propel its mission to revolutionize the American transportation sector. With access to new funds, the company plans to accelerate the manufacture of its electric shuttles and school buses, reinforcing its position as the nation’s only vertically integrated Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in this space.
Magnetar, a global multi-strategy alternative asset manager, with additional support from Pulse Fund and strategic partner Pritchard Auto Company, made a $36 million equity contribution to the five-year-old company. In addition, Endera secured a $13 million credit facility. This infusion of capital will enable the company to scale production, expand its product line, and generate new jobs at its world-class production facility in Ottawa, Ohio.
“This investment will support our mission to revolutionize the specialty vehicle industry and accelerate the transition to clean mobility,” said Endera CEO and founder John Walsh. “At a time when America needs to prioritize domestic manufacturing and sustainability, Endera is leading by example—creating jobs, driving economic growth, and providing cost-effective solutions all while advancing American ingenuity.”
A Vision for Clean, American-Made Transportation
Founded in California in 2019, Endera’s commitment to providing sustainable, zero-emission transportation solutions for the government and commercial sectors made it a key player in the electric bus market. By focusing on the underserved government sector, which includes school districts and municipalities, Endera positioned itself as a leader in addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly alternatives to traditional buses.
This latest round of funding underscores the company’s ability to deliver on its mission, which is reducing carbon emissions and revitalizing American manufacturing. The company’s leadership made an important decision to base its manufacturing in Ohio at a former Philips plant. They are demonstrating their commitment to creating jobs in the Rust Belt, a region often associated with the decline of manufacturing.
This strategic move resulted in a 20-fold increase in production output following Endera’s acquisition of the Winnebago Metro Titan group in 2021, further solidifying the company’s position as a trailblazer in the electric vehicle space.
Vertically Integrated for Speed, Precision, and Innovation
Endera’s vertically integrated approach gives it a unique competitive advantage. Unlike many companies in the EV space, Endera is not only a manufacturer of electric vehicles but also a complete solution provider.
The company designs and manufactures the vehicles, develops the proprietary powertrain technology, and offers fleet management software—all under one roof. Endera’s in-house approach allows it to respond quickly and precisely to customer needs, offering greater customization and control over the manufacturing and operational process. Solutions are tailored to meet the specific demands of its customers.
For example, its vehicles are fully customizable, allowing transit agencies and school districts to choose the features that best fit their needs. Endera’s electric buses offer best-in-class reliability, safety, and quality and the company’s proprietary powertrain leads the industry with the longest range and fastest charging times.
But Endera’s commitment to innovation goes beyond just the buses themselves. The company also developed in-house fleet management software that includes real-time insights, a rider app, and a streamlined service response, all integrated into a single platform. This holistic approach to electric transportation helps make Endera’s vehicles some of the most reliable and cost-effective solutions.
Delivering Real-World Impact: A Proven Track Record
Endera’s reputation for quality and innovation is already proven, having delivered the largest deployment of electric shuttles at a U.S. airport. It also was selected as a low-bid vendor for the CalAct contract, the largest state EV bus contract in U.S. history. These are significant milestones underscoring growing market demand for Endera’s vehicles.
“We see both commercial and climate value in Endera’s vertically integrated approach because it enables them to respond to customer needs with speed and precision,” said Tenzin Seldon, a founder of Pulse Fund, which invested in Endera’s latest funding round. “By offering a holistic solution, they’re not just filling in gaps in the commercial EV market but solving challenges at every level.”
By focusing on the total cost of ownership, Endera offers a sustainable solution that rivals traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles in price, technology, longevity, and profitability.
A Bright Future for Endera
Endera’s latest funding is a pivotal moment for the company. With its vertically integrated business model, high-quality products, and commitment to sustainability, the company is well-positioned to become the leading manufacturer of electric shuttles and school buses in the U.S. Investor backing enables Endera to scale its operations, further expand its product offerings, and substantively contribute to job creation in Ohio.
Endera is at the forefront of a movement that aims to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation in America. The company’s vehicles not only stand out in the electric vehicle industry and are environmentally friendly, but they are also economically viable and demonstrate its commitment to a sustainable future.
