Consumers now have an aid that will help them more easily find the best price and platform for watching their favorite streaming movies and tv shows. Arizona based Cellular One and Belfast, Ireland-based developer Vennetics launched this week a new mobile app named CHILL that allows users to search all the web-based video services from one place.

The personalized streaming portal allows users to search by actor/actress, director, title, price or year on services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu and their competitors, bringing all together for the consumer to compare and choose. It includes direct billing and wish list queues and is free and available for both iOS and Android.

“More consumers are cutting the cord and utilizing web-based video streaming services to watch their favorite shows and movies on demand. The problem is—now there are so many platforms,” said Judd Hinkle, CEO of Cellular One, in a press statement.

The launch of the app is also timely as research firm eMarketer revealed that in 2017 a total of 22.2 million U.S. adults will have cut the cord on cable, satellite or telco TV service. This is a 33% jump from 16.7 million in 2016.

“Younger audiences continue to switch to either exclusively watching [over-the-top] video or watching them in combination with free-TV options,” said Chris Bendtsen, senior forecasting analyst at eMarketer.

In view of this trend TV programmers such as Disney and NBC Universal are readying direct-to-consumer streaming services themselves. This will only further the need for consumers to have an easy way to search what they want and at the best price.
