This past Thursday, September 10, 2015 CEO Michael Dell visited China and announced Dell’s new “In China, for China” 4.0 strategy in which the company will invest $125 billion into Chinese economic development over the next five years. This investment will contribute about $175 billion to imports and exports while also maintaining over 1 million jobs within the Dell ecosystem. Fostering the company’s long-term loyalty to the Chinese market, Dell is developing several projects that aid in the expansion of Dell while also contributing to China’s development.
“China and the United States are among the countries where the information industry is developing the fastest, resulting in the most vibrant enterprises,” said Mr. Dell. “The Internet is the new engine for China’s future economic growth and has unlimited potential. Being an innovative and efficient technology company, Dell will embrace the principle of -In China, for China’ and closely integrate Dell China strategies with national policies in order to support Chinese technological innovation, economic development and industrial transformation.”
In addition to the company’s noteworthy investment, Dell has taken its commitment to Chinese development and step further by deciding to expand Dell Ventures, “The strategic investment arm of Dell Inc.” into the Chinese market. With a strategy of “massive entrepreneurship and innovation by all”, Dell Ventures aims to accelerate entrepreneurship and innovation within Chinese enterprises. By promoting the emergence of technology startups, Dell Ventures commercializes product solutions to fields including storage, cloud computing, big data, next generation data center, mobility and security
Furthermore, the company will continue to improve its existing Chinese research and development team to generate solutions within the Chinese market. According to a recent press release: “Dell already employs nearly 2,000 senior engineers and has already developed important research and innovative strengths”¦ The Dell Greater China R&D Center will support Dell’s IT development from desktop to data center, and from hardware to software and cloud computing.”
