On November 4 the finalists of the Collegiate Inventors Competition will meet in Virginia to showcase their work at the Collegiate Inventors Competition Expo and Awards. The competition seeks out the country’s most innovative, entrepreneurial, and creative graduate and undergraduate students.
At the Expo finalists interact directly with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as corporate sponsors and over 2,000 visitors, showing off their inventions to patent and trademark examiners.
Finalists will also take part in the Meet the Experts program, where some of the world’s foremost inventors and scientists provide feedback on how to progress their inventions to the next stage. The experts consist of National Inventors Hall of Fame inductees, AbbVie scientists and other top tier industry leaders.
Since 1990, the competition has awarded over $1 million to finalists, and the program considers its purpose to bridge the gap between collegiate students and real-world innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities.
