The graduate teams from the Venture Center (VC) FinTech Accelerator presented their solutions to over 350 investors on July 26th during the VC FinTech Demo Day. Held at the Clinton Presidential Library the Demo Day was the culmination of 12 weeks of training provided by the Center and FIS during which the 10 finalists engaged with over 20 financial institutions.
The Venture Center leverages its mentors, connections in the investor community, and programming to transform startups all around the globe into high-growth businesses. Their 2017 FinTech accelerator received 295 applications from 40 countries around the world, with the 2018 accelerator accepting applications through September 20th.
Wayne Miller, VC FinTech Accelerator managing director, spoke about the graduates in a press release, saying, “These companies have demonstrated their capacity to bring world class solutions to solving problems and challenges in the FinTech space. Each of them has made tremendous progress toward proving that their team can execute while clearly validating their value proposition to enable banks to better serve their customers in a changing digital world.”
The ten graduates and the locations they’re from are:
- Xplanar Analytics, from New York City, New York, leveraging computational analytics for regulatory requirements through advanced predictive modeling.
- WalletFi, from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, simplifying digital wallet management by enabling users to identify and move subscriptions, recurring charges, and card-on-file payments between cards.
- Quotanda, from Mexico City, Mexico, a lending-as-a-service platform designed for reducing costs in education by letting schools and lenders launch and manage loans, scholarships, and other student financing programs.
- Plingit, from Ann Arbor, Michigan, assisting community banks with lasting relationships involving millennials.
- Omentrium, from Chigago, Illinois, allowing financial institutions to leverage regulatory changes with prize-linked savings to drive account growth.
- Hedgehog, from Detroit, Michigan, which mitigates or hedges investment risk through crowsourcing for retail investors.
- eGiftify, from London, England, enabling client marketing solutions, gifting, and payment for business and banks that can be delivered through print, social media, SMS, or email.
- Bond.AI, from New York City, New York, giving banks access to an omni-channel conversational intelligence, analyzing bank data and opening new channels of communication with consumers through text and voice channels.
- Alto IRA, from Nashville, Tennessee, using a self-directed IRA account to easily invest in private equity, real estate, and other alternative assets.
- Alpharank, from San Francisco, California, using an advanced analytics engine to monetize historical transaction data for banks via social graphing.
