This October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bright Pink, a national non-profit that focuses on preventing breast and ovarian cancer in women is working to motivate a half million women to move beyond health awareness. The organization has teamed up with Aerie, Deloitte, Paul Mitchell, and other companies to promote the Assess Your Risk tool that is free online and helps women take control of their health.
The digital assessment is interactive and easy-to-use, with nationally-recognized cancer screening criteria that help women better understand their breast and ovarian cancer risk. Bright Pink and other partners hope to spread the word about the tool, encouraging women and their friends and family to take ownership of their health and raise money for Bright Pink by purchasing exclusive products on multiple websites.
Women can use to platform to explore genetics, collect family history, and receive recommendations on how to decrease cancer risk. By discovering key insights, users can start a conversation with their healthcare provider and ask the right questions during doctor appointments.
“Knowing up to 25 percent of breast and ovarian cancers are familial or hereditary, helping all women know their risk and take action is a mission we won’t stop chasing,” said Katie Thiede, CEO, Bright Pink. “The Assess Your Risk tool has helped 1.5 million women, and counting, learn their risk of breast and ovarian cancer and receive personalized recommendations for prevention and risk reduction by taking the 3-minute, online assessment.”
