Box, Inc. welcomed the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Think of Us as BoxWorks 2018 Social Impact Partners at the recently held BoxWorks gathering. . Known as a cloud content management group, Box runs BoxWorks annually to empower team collaboration while reimagining the digital workplace and digital businesses. Through initiatives like the Social Impact Partners and Box.org, Box reaches out to empower social impact organizations dedicated to making positive changes in the world.
Both organizations showcased how they leveraged technology to achieve their goals, with IRC helping refugees across the globe and Think of Us assisting and empowering foster youth. In addition to their honors as this year’s Social Impact Partners, they received grants from the Box.org Fund, as well as nine other grand recipients. Both organizations represent Box.org’s focus on giving back through three major areas: humanitarian aid, inclusion in tech, and youth wellbeing.
“Every year 28,000 young people are forced out of the foster care system at 18 or 21 without being adopted or returning to their family of origin. Navigating school, a first job and housing become very difficult,” said Think of Us Founder Sixto Cancel in a press statememt. “It is an honor to partner with Box to ensure young people aging out of foster care without family support have the tools required to thrive both personally and professionally.”
The Box.org fund has given over $115,000 to more than 7,000 nonprofit organizations since its founding. Their support goes beyond funding, also providing discounted or donated access to Box cloud content management software, employee-led giving and volunteering programs, and coalition building.
