Completing an agreement made public in June, Blackbaud, the cloud software company that powers social good, announced on October 3rd the completion of its acquisition of UK based JustGiving. The acquisition expands Blackbaud’s TeamRaiser ® and everydayhero™ programs, while integrating personal crowdfunding into their services platform for the first time.

JustGiving specializes in peer-to-peer giving via an online platform that to date has raised over $4.5 billion by users in 164 countries to support good causes. The acquisition was started through Blackbaud’s U.K. subsidiary and cost approximately $127.4 million.

As peer-to-peer fundraising continues to grow and become a significant factor in charitable giving, including its bolstering by social media, Blackbaud saw this acquisition as an important avenue assist non-profits in connecting them to consumers who are seeking to support meaningful causes.
