Sponsors Lightship Capital, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and others support the first-ever ‘Black Tech Weekend that will be held in Detroit

Song Foundation, Venture 313, Lightship Capital and Michigan Economic Development Corporation have given their support as sponsors to Black Tech Weekend that will be held in Detroit on October 12-14. The event will bring together tech entrepreneurs from all over the United States behind a common theme “Michigan is the best place to build your future”.

Black Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to network with investors and professionals, while exploring education, resources and opportunities. The Black Tech Week organizers chose Detroit in recognition of its rising tech ecosystem attracting early-stage funding and generating investor activity. 

Black Tech Weekend wraps up Michigan Tech Week (MTW), the state’s largest tech conference attracting high-growth founders, investors, and thought leaders to Michigan. The event, being held in Ann Arbor on October 9th through the 12th, showcases the leading innovations being developed across the state.

Messer, Jr., CEO of the MEDC. “Black Tech Weekend builds upon our mission of creating opportunities for tech entrepreneurs of all backgrounds to thrive in Michigan…Work remains but this Weekend is important progress.”

Black Tech Weekend will host panel discussions and expert speakers that showcase Michigan’s thriving founder community. This includes Michigan based startups and tech companies Dunamis Energy, Evenscore, Justair and Live Your Song that are addressing global and national challenges like clean energy, community organizing, clean air, and special needs education.

Johnnie Turage, Founder of Detroit’sBlack Tech Saturdays, sums up the important connection that Black entrepreneurs have with Michigan’s tech and entrepreneurial resources, making the Black Tech Weekend offering one more avenue for their success.
