Adapting to the constraints of the global pandemic, Apple® will host its free annual Worldwide Developers Conference virtually, beginning on June 22, engaging with their developers via the Apple Developer app and on the Apple Developer website.
The global event attracts millions of creative and innovative participants who are given early access to the future of iOS®, iPadOS®, macOS®, tvOS®, and watchOS®, while learning from Apple engineers.
“WWDC20 will be our biggest yet, bringing together our global developer community of more than 23 million in an unprecedented way for a week in June to learn about the future of Apple platforms,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
In addition, Apple will be hosting the Swift® Student Challenge for the 31st year. The Challenge gives student developers an opportunity to show their passion for coding by creating their own Swift playground.
Student developers have until 11:59 p.m. PDT on May 17 to submit “an interactive scene in a Swift playground that can be experienced within three minutes”. Swift Playgrounds® is Apple’s revolutionary app for iPad® and Mac® enabling students to learn the Swift programming language interactive. Winners will receive an exclusive WWDC20 jacket and pin set.
