Janet Angel, CEO of JACOR LLC, has been selected to present her patented innovative EcoBioClean® technology to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) at a joint workshop between UNEP and the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborating Center (ISC3) on September 14th. The presentation focuses on the ecological and scientific value of the technology that provides a cost-effective and safe method to treat oil spills.
Current technology for the treatment of oil spills does meet environmental or public health standards, but Angel’s technology reduces crude oil slicks in fresh or salt water into tiny particles in less than ten minutes. It then continues to transform the substance into material suitable for ground and aquatic life in about seven days.
The inspiration for the technology came after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, which Angel expressed in a recent press release. “As I considered what happened to the ocean following the Deepwater spill, I thought, ‘why not remove toxins from the ocean the way microorganisms and enzymes break down substances in nature?’ … I look forward to sharing our approach with the global scientific community at the U.N. and with other leaders in the public and private sectors in the near term.”
Angel is one of two representatives from the United States who will be attending the joint workshop, with six other participants who are leaders from the scientific and environmental community, some of whom are Nobel laureates.
