A nonprofit run jointly by The Conference Board and Nielsen called The Demand Institute, along with help from Accenture, has developed a new platform with the goal of supporting all 17 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Known as Project 8, the system is powered by Einstein Analytics and functions as an idea and information marketplace to predict and plan for future humans needs.

Sarah Cummings, manager of The Demand Institute, Nielsen, spoke about the concept behind the platform, saying, “By bringing researchers and data together in a more centralized tool, we’ll be able to make insights more visible, better anticipate future demands, and ultimately do a better job of planning to meet the needs of the world’s 8 billion+ people by 2050.”

The platform enables organizations all over the globe to collaborate through an intuitive interface. Participants can speak to experts, discussing their findings or asking questions, and access visualization tools to plan for anything from food security to future agriculture. Most notable is that the system supports over 100 organizations in 16 countries, and houses 300+ million rows of data.

Project 8 is set to continue its growth, with an 85% increase in experts on the platform since launch as well as an 80% increase in uploaded datasets. Accenture, in recognition of their work on Project 8, received the Salesforce Partner Innovation Award under the Non-profit category at Dreamforce 2019.
