The 2019 Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge concluded with the naming of its Innovation Champion on February 6th, 2020 at TMCx, which is an accelerator program housed in the Texas Medical Center Innovation Institute. By pairing startups with health organizations, the Challenge facilitates the co-creation of solutions to tackle real-world challenges in the health-tech ecosystem. Capital Rx took the top spot in the Challenge, granting them the title of Innovation Champion.

“Healthcare organizations continue to advance their digital transformation agendas — enhancing access, affordability, quality and experience to drive innovation that improves the lives of consumers and clinicians,” said Accenture’s managing director of digital health and innovation, Brian Kalis in a press statement. “We look forward to working with these companies and others to continue to help advance solutions that address the industry’s toughest challenges.”

New York based Capital Rx took the top slot thanks to their Clearinghouse Model. It connects employers to pharmacies, building a drug pricing marketplace that reduces costs while creating a better experience for patients and plan sponsors. Capital RX CEO AJ Loiacono remarked that the award was a validation of the company’s mission of changing the way drugs are administered and priced.

Second place in the Top Innovator category went to Minneapolis-based Carrot Health, for their MarketView platform that leverages predictive modeling with a consumer database for 360-degree views on members and patients. Additional finalists included Xealth, TCARE, Paloma Health, Orderly Health, Mira, Lantum, InsightRX, DynamiCare Health, and Cleo.
