The 17th Annual Women in Technology Leadership Awards highlight the accomplishments of leading women in technology in the D.C. area. The awards cover a range of business sectors that includes small business and entrepreneurship. Some of the other award categories are: government, defense, software, and consulting.
“These women have innovated in small and large ways to guide their organizations toward success,” says Lisa Dezzutti, president of Women in Technology (WIT). “They also prove to us that there are endless opportunities and many paths to achieving success in the technology industry.”
The five award winners in the category of Small Business/Entrepreneur were:
Susan M. Evans – Evans Incorporated, a consulting firm specializing in managing technology
Crystal Icenhour, PhD – Aperiomics, a biotech company with a focus on microbes and pathogens
Dr. Arti Patel Varanasi – Advancing Synergy, a health-technology company focused on communities with limited resources.
Lisa Wolford – Constellation West, an engineering and services business
Amy Wright – Macro Solutions, a full-service construction company
WIT is a non-profit based in D.C. and its goal is to advance women in technology at all stages of the talent pipeline – from the classroom to the boardroom. WIT supports advocacy, leadership development, mentoring, and technical education for women. Winners of the leadership awards will be honored at a banquet on May 19 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Reston, VA.
