On Tuesday UBS and Venture for America announced the ten winners of the 2016 UBS Venture Catalyst Awards, helping ten startups ignite their businesses while reviving American cities in the process.
Totaling $150,000, the prize money is provided by UBS and awarded to startups founded by VFA alumni as grant seed investments. Ventures for America operates a fellowship program that aims to assist fresh graduates in developing their enterprises with the vision that they will combat important community issues
“From the earliest days we saw the potential of VFA to impact communities across the country,” Lori Feinsilver, Head of Community Affairs at UBS Americas, stated in a recent press release.
The 2016 UBS Venture Catalyst Award Winners are as follows:
Arthur, a service linking customers with professional stylists
Doze, an e commerce mattress company for college students
Emile, an SMS based companion aimed to aid personal goals
Felix Gray, fashionable computer glasses designed to reduce eye damage
Larvio, providing an effective and productive waste management system
Naturall, a brand specialize in distinct, all natural hair care products
Pinch Crawfish Kitchen, a Southeast Asian street food kitchen
Aha Plant Life, a culinary brand that produces hemp beverages
Potluck, a social video platform connecting food lovers
Synotrac, an implantable medical device that facilitates early detection
“Through the UBS Venture Catalyst Awards, our hope is to build on the foundation that VFA provides their fellows and ensure their continued development,” Feinsilver said.
