The round, led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 with participation from existing and new strategic investors, brings the company’s total funding to over $200 million.

The Role of Automation in Utility-Scale Solar

A major component of Terabase’s technological suite is Terafab™, a robotics-assisted assembly line designed to enhance the efficiency of solar panel installation. Having already proven its effectiveness by installing an industry-leading 40 megawatts across multiple commercial projects in the United States, the next-generation Terafab system is poised to deploy hundreds of megawatts of solar capacity through 2026.

This system doubles installation productivity, enhances build quality, and eliminates the need for manual lifting of heavy components, significantly improving workplace safety.

Addressing the Energy Storage and Onshoring Boom

This investment in Terabase arrives at a pivotal time in the renewable energy sector. According to an article in the Financial Times, advancements in battery storage technology have enabled solar power plants to provide cost-competitive electricity around the clock, removing one of the long-standing barriers to solar energy adoption.

Also, increased onshoring of solar manufacturing and the rapid expansion of data centers are further driving demand for large-scale renewable energy projects.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) notesthat, despite increases in investment costs due to rising commodity prices, utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) remains the least costly option for new electricity generation in more countries worldwide.
